About Exford

Signpost in ExfordIn the very heart of Exmoor, Exford is an idyllic village, based on the River Exe in the centre of Exmoor National Park.

It has excellent access to the moors for those interested in outdoor sports and activities such as hunting, riding and shooting, and close to near by seaside towns for those wanting to visit the coast and perhaps even doing a little surfing. Well known for its superb hunting, fishing and walking, (the Devon & Somerset Staghounds have been based there since 1875) and with stable yards for equestrian visitors, Exford is a popular choice for all types of tourists throughout the year.

The picturesque, large Village Green is the central point of the village, with houses and local amenities surrounding it. It has an excellent children’s play area, which is the result of local parents fundraising efforts. The village has a post office, newsagents/grocery store and two small hotels, The White Horse Inn that sits on the River Exe and The Crown that overlooks the green. Both offer visitors the chance to eat & drink in a traditional friendly Exmoor atmosphere with true Westcountry style.
